The Fountains Primary School is a generic special school for pupils aged 5-11 years, with a variety of special needs. We are Federated with The Fountains High site, which takes pupils from 11-19. Since November 2011 we are also part of the Burton Co-operative Learning Trust with the local primary schools in this area of Burton.
The two sites take pupils from an area covering Tamworth, Lichfield, Burton and Uttoxeter.
We currently have a school population of 73 across 8 classes, so class numbers are smaller and staffing levels are higher than in mainstream primary schools. One of the 8 classes is currently designated for secondary pupils who are severly autistic. This is soon to be appropriately re-sited on the High site.
We are committed to providing a high quality education that includes the National Curriculum as well as a personalised curriculum tailored to the needs of individual pupils. This may include shopping skills, social dining, road safety as well as visits linked to various areas of the curriculum.
We aim to create a calm, happy and purposeful atmosphere where pupils feel confident to do their best. We pride ourselves on good working relationships with our parents and families, as well as a range of professionals involved in the development of pupils in school.
Each year the Burton Toy Run raises valuable funds for the schools as well as donating gifts. We also help out each year at their summer fete and organise a disco for them each christmas.
